an interesting benefit of having a web server running and then also blocking ads by redirecting them to your localhost address using an IP blocklist: you can tell at what times others were using your computer to browse the net because the apache server takes the requests for the ads you've blocked - which generates 404 errors in your access log but still I find this to be a benefit of sorts if you are unfortunate enough to share a computer with people you really wish you didn't. Damn it's really fuckin hard to kick out your leech of a roommate when it's your sister :/
